Story

I am running the London marathon for my brother. On New Year’s Day in 2021, my brother was out running when he got hit by a car. The accident caused him to become paralysed from the waist down. It was a very traumatic time for me, my family, his wife and friends. Yet despite this, my brother showed the greatest positivity anyone could in his situation. He didn’t let it get him down, and was determined to be able to walk again. Now my brother works for spinal research and is an inspiration for others, showing that even though he is paralysed he can still have an amazing life. So now I am running the London marathon in his honour and to raise money for a great charity.

Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every year 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for our research. Because of the efforts of our supporters, we have funded innovative medical research that has achieved a number of ground breaking changes in the field.
