Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I got back into mountain biking 2 years ago and have really enjoyed the quiet head space it provides me with. Last year I found out about the Off Road coast to coast route. Its 210 miles of bridleways and paths that follow Wainwright's classic coast to coast walk as much as possible. Fancying a challenge, I've been (slowly) working towards this by doing several 2 day trips...now its time do 9 days!
I'll be travelling this Sunday by train from Wakefield to start at St Bees on the West Coast, travelling through (and over) the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors ending up at Robin Hoods Bay on the East Coast. On the last day, I'll be following the Cinder Track down to Scarborough to get my train home.
I'll be attempting to do this completely self supported with all my camping gear attached to the bike, camping where I feel like it. I won't lie to you but I'm quite nervous about the whole trip (so is the wife!) and I'll be cycling through some very remote areas.
I originally planned to do this just for the challenge/adventure. It was my wife's idea to do it for charity. Quite frankly, I'm scared I'll let everyone down by not finishing it, but that works both ways. With my friends and family behind me and a worthwhile cause it might just give me the strength to persevere when it gets really tough and I feel like quitting.
