Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving
page.

With all major fundraising cancelled due to Covid -19 the UK's charities are facing hardship like never before

As some of you may be aware, after entering the world at just 33 weeks following a difficult labour our son, Sebastian suffered a severe brain injury resulting in Cerebral Palsy. He now needs support with everyday tasks that many of us take for granted. Unlike most children his age, Sebastian cannot get the same kind of reward from normal baby groups and so we as a family had been feeling more and more isolated. We have however been fortunate enough to have a fantastic team of carers, physios and medical experts around us both through the NHS, local council as well as private experts. It was through this team around the child that we were made aware of the Footprints Conductive education centre.

Footprints has been a lifeline for our family and have been working with Sebastian since March 2019. The staff at Footprints work tirelessly to support both children that have additional needs as well as their families. The centre provides a space where children can play and learn as well as providing a community of families a space to socialise and share stories that is not always possible in mainstream baby and children centres. The classes are aimed at the particular children in attendance and focus on giving them a real chance of reaching their own potential. They also provide support to the parents, whether that being a simple cup of tea and a chat about the
previous week or much needed help and techniques in making their children more comfortable in everyday life.

Life without Footprints for our family as well as so many more really is unthinkable. Sebastian loves every moment he spends with his friends at the centre and we look forward to our weekly class. Please, if you can, help us to keep this vital centre doors open so that not just our family but others both present and, in the future, can benefit from the invaluable work that is carried out there.
