Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page.
In July 2017, Dad was diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumour - glioblastoma. The tumour was the most aggressive grade, non operable and incurable, with only a 5% chance of survival past 1 year.
During his illness Dad continued to work, was extremely positive and did not let his diagnosis affect his lifestyle. As Dad believed he would be able to manage his condition and live on, we were not prepared for the deterioration that took place in June 2018. The paralysis of his right side worsened and he became unable to move, speak and communicate. This is where Havens stepped in.
Havens Hospice palliative care team came into our home and quickly became an integral part of our family. They continued to make Dad smile and comfortable while supporting us throughout. Dad continued to surprise them with his positivity and strength until he peacefully passed in October 2018. Our experience would have been very different without Havens’ help.
Havens Hospices can only exist because of the support and generosity of the community. We hope you can take inspiration from Dad’s story and make every day count. We appreciate any donation to help give back to Havens and the patients that they support.
Lots of love,
