Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!

St Raphael's hospice offers care to people with life-limiting illnesses in Sutton and Merton at the time they need it most. It is a service that is completely free, providing medical and nursing interventions to patients and supporting family and friends.

It is since St Raph's supported our family on a couple of occasions that I have come to fully understand the amazing work they do, with such care and kindness. Steve (my Dad!) is one of their wonderful volunteers and fundraisers and so I have seen through him the incredible work they do - not only to support the patients and their immediate family but also to bring a community together.

I remember always watching the London Marathon with such excitement as a kid (back in the days of Flora!), and have always wanted to one day have a go one day. So here I am, dusting off my running shoes and starting off the training plan with a challenging run around the block, but am sure will get up to the 26.2 mile distance one way or another...!

It is not only a huge challenge for me to run that distance, but I have set myself a big target for fundraising as well. I will of course be incredibly grateful for anything you can give on this page but also keep an eye out for me bucket shaking, baking and beard shaving (not sure about the last one, just needed something beginning with B!) to help me smash it!

Thanks again, for helping me on my way.

Chris
