Story
I will be running the London Marathon on the 3rd October, dressed as a purple fairy, for local charity Wishes 4 Kids. In what has been a difficult 12 months, this opportunity has given me the lift and motivation for 2021!
For those of you who don't know much about Wishes 4 Kids here's a summary of the fantastic work that they do.
Wishes 4 Kids provides wishes to any under 18s in Leicestershire who are life limited, terminally ill or have experienced life-changing physical or emotional traumas.
In 2019 I had the pleasure of visiting the headquarters of this amazing charity and was able to view a selection of the 'wishes' that had been granted. All wishes differ from meeting a Leicester City player, VIP access to a music festival, or a trip of a lifetime to Disneyland with their family.
Sadly the charity doesn't have a magic cure to ease the suffering of these youngsters but they do have the ability to provide a short period of respite. The time when a child has a wish granted is a moment that will be treasured by them for the rest of their life. It is also a time which parents will remember – that time when their child forgot the suffering.
Thanks for reading, and hopefully, donating to my page.
UPDATE: A few people have queried when making the donation about the extra 15% that is being suggested. Please be aware that this is separate from GiftAid and is an optional extra to support JustGiving directly. To remove this option, select the dropdown arrow, select other and then leave the amount at £0.00 and you will not be charged anything extra. I have included a screenshot in my 'update feed' below as I can't add pictures to my main story.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to Wishes 4 Kids. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Cheers,
Chris
