Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

18 year old Hannah Francis was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) on 1 May 2015.  Whilst bravely fighting the disease, Hannah with her mascot 'Willberry the Wonder Pony' raised significant funds for various charities whilst maintaining a blog which I would urge you to read https://www.willberrywonderpony.org/our-stories/hannahs-story/.

Very sadly Hannah lost her battle to cancer on 1 August 2016.  Her legacy however continues and the charity is going from strength to strength raising money for bone cancer research and fulfilling dreams for seriously ill children.

Hannah has inspired thousands of people she never met.  One of the fundraising ideas is the 'Wobbleberry Challenge' - a challenge which I have enrolled Errol and I for - he doesn't know it yet!  Whilst he has long legs, they are a very long way from his brain so we need to work on communication!  The challenge is to complete a BE80 event.  To those who are sane and don't have a horse for a hobby, this involves riding a (hopefully!) accurate dressage test - imagine re-sitting your driving test with the examiner telling you exactly what to do and where to go before you even start and you have to complete without error to achieve a decent chance of passing - now you'll understand that part of the challenge!  Next, completing a show-jumping course - again driving test over some pretty big speed bumps but in a car with an ejector seat which can send you flying at any moment.  Then complete a cross country course with solid fences .. and a water jump - again driving test but over rough terrain, with little steering, pretty poor brakes and with a super sensitive ejector seat which is likely to land you in a big, smelly pond!  Sounds like fun??  Anyway that is our fundraising challenge.  If you would be so kind as to donate that would be great.  If you can meet me at the end of the cross country course with a strong vodka and large pizza, that would be even better! Thanks for reading...

PS:  A Wobbleberry is defined as:

- not currently fit enough to get round a cross country course

- not currently brave enough to get round a cross country course

- old enough to know better, and know that this will hurt!

- dedicated - to raising money, to training, and conquering the fear

- supportive of each other - aiming to be weeble-esque, "we wobble, but we don't fall down".

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
