Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am setting myself a personal challenge to travel by any way I can (running, walking, cycling, rowing) 1000 km which is the distance from Stowmarket where I live to the South of France. Much of this will be done on everyday training runs and walks but I plan to complete a few specific challenges along the way - Race for Life, an Obstacle Course Run, the Olympic Park Family Run are a few I have already thought of. I will row in the gym on a stationary rower and hope to row and swim at least the 21 miles (33km) of the Channel!

Why am I doing this?

Three years ago I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis .. I had an emergency lifesaving operation to remove my colon. This year I will have a final procedure to make my stoma permanent. Until my diagnosis I knew nothing about UC - I had been diagnosed with IBS. Since then I have learnt so much about this condition that I wish I had known and the doctors had known. Prior knowledge and awareness may not have changed the outcome for me but it would have made everything much more easy to accept and understand for both myself and my family.

Awareness of this disease and others like it is so important and CCUK do so much research and awareness raising. Maybe one day they'l even find a cause!!

Thanks for your support!
