We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page

Hereford Fundraising Branch has just been founded, and we're planning several events over the next year.

I am the Branch Organiser, and as a Guide dog owner I know how having a Guide dog can transform the lives of blind or partially sighted people.  My Guide dog Trudy won the Life Changing category in the Guide dog of the Year  Awards 2011.  She has helped me fight cancer, enabled me to move into my own flat  and given me the confidence to go anywhere either on foot or by public transport.

I feel very privileged to have a dog like Trudy and that is why I am passionate about raising funds for Guide dogs.  It costs £49000 to train and maintain each individual Guide dog, and there are roughly 4,500 working  Guide dogs in the UK.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please make a donation and help bring light into the lives of many blind or partially sighted people.  Thank you. .

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
