Royal Marines have one of the most physically and psychologically demanding jobs on the planet and findings show a lack of knowledge about mental health issues makes it more difficult to recognise a problem developing.

Story

First things first - thank you so much for looking at my page. Without people like you engaging with this we wouldn't be able to achieve a fraction of what is possible. As individuals, we are strong, but together we are stronger.

I will be walking 80 miles across Devon, coast to coast, raising money for the vital work of Royal Marines Mental Health (RMMH). A symbol of the everyday challenge of mental health problems and the long road ahead.
I’m aiming to finish within 24 hours, and short of being run over by a truck, I will absolutely be finishing this. (Also I may or may not wearing  a rather stylish dress!)

At midnight on 7th September, I will dip a hand into the Bristol Channel on the North coast then take the first of many steps towards the South coast and the English Channel. That's 80 miles in 24 hours. I want to do a demanding challenge like this to embrace how far I have come with the help of the RMMH and support their work in the future.

As a former Royal Marine, I can definitely say it's one of the most physically and psychologically demanding jobs on the planet. However, for me, the path after leaving was to prove even more challenging.

Years after my service, mental health issues surfaced. They impacted my relationships with friends and family, some days I couldn't even face leaving the house or take care of myself; I felt isolated and hopeless. At my very lowest, I reached out to the RMMH Charity and within days they
responded with customised mental health counselling. I honestly don't know what I could have done without their fast and amazing support.

As demanding as this walk will be, it's nothing compared the battles some of us face in our mind's day-to-day. The journey from where I have been, to where I am now, has been long and challenging but I wouldn't change it for the world. It has become my fuel.

Please support this mission in order to make the same resources available for other guys in similar dark places and equip them to regain and get back on track. Better knowledge and services can save lives.

Thanking you so much for reading, I am truly humbled by your support X
🙏

P.S. If you're interested in helping with a pit stop or just think it might be fun watching me walk by that day - let me know!
