Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital believe that keeping parents and babies together should be the cornerstone of newborn care - even when babies are born a little early or with some additional medical needs. Indeed, research evidence demonstrates that avoiding infant/parent separation improves outcomes for such babies and their families.

We currently have some rooms named 'neonatal transitional care rooms' that enable parents to room-in beside their babies but we would like to extend these facilities so that more families can benefit. We could never replace any  family home but providing a few home comforts for our neonatal transitional care facilities such as coffee makers, TVs, toys for siblings etc may help to create a more comfortable family friendly environment in which to nurture these precious babies.

We have challenged ourselves to sea swim the length of the Forth and Clyde canal (35 miles across Scotland) in order to attract charitable funding so that we can use this to purchase a few home comforts for our extended neonatal transitional care facilities. We hope that you can support us.
