Story

Thank you taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We have set up this emergency donations page to try and raise funds to help the people of Waterloo, Sierra Leone as they deal with the dangers and threats of the Ebola virus. Thank you too for your generous donations to date.

Thanks to your help, we have been able to provide relief and aid to children who have been orphaned by the Ebola virus and to others who have been left in quarantine. For the children, Rosetta and our team make up parcels of food so there is no need for any cooking.

We have also been able to run a number eductional forums or senstivisation sesions to spread the word and help to help explain what steps the local community can take to protect themselves. One of the many difficulties is the fear of the unknown and lack of knowledge not just about Ebola itself but also about what can be done to prevent its spread.

Full details can be found on our website: www.codep.co.uk.

However, many people have died in Waterloo and many more are infected. The local hospital remains in quarantine surrounded by troops. The schools have not yet re-opened.We continue to liaise with UNICEF and our team in Sierra Leone about how we can best assist.  As well as aid for those in quarantine, there is an urgent need for sanitisation equipment, clothing and materials. For example, floor brushes are £5 each, packets of gloves £5.70. Chlorine is £10 a gallon. Often equipment has to be burnt after use, if the wearer has come into contact with patients.

We have already made a number of emergency donations to enable Rosetta and her team to continue purchasing aid and holding health education sessions, but we want to do more. Our emergency fund will remain open for as long as there is a need within the community of Waterloo in this difficult time. Any donation would be gratefully received.

We thank you for your kindness and generosity.
