On January 2nd , I was walking on Dartmoor and fell from Leather Tor, sustaining serious injuries including a broken back (12 vertabrae), fractured skull, 9 broken ribs, right foot, shoulder, punctured lungs & a severe brain injury which caused optical nerve damage. 

Fortunately for me my walking buddy & another walker found me lying in a gully & immediately called the emergency services, who despatched the Air Ambulance. Having laid there for some time & now suffering hypothermia I was close to death. My location presented huge difficulties for the helicopter pilot to safely land but he did this with the most amazing skill. The two paramedics immediately administered life saving treatment before loading me into the aircraft en route to Derriford Hospital.

Upon arrival at the Resuscitation unit I was handed over to the crash team, my injuries assessed & subsequently taken to The Intensive Care Unit. It was here that I was put into an induced coma for several weeks. This was the start of the wonderful care I received from the Doctors, Nurses & many staff of Pencarrow, Moorgate Neural Ward & Plym Unit (Mount Gould) over the following 70 days. Their dedication & care has enabled me to start my journey on the road to recovery. 

Each day I am reminded of the timely intervention of the Devon Air Ambulance Trust & the life saving techniques the Paramedics deployed. Incredibly they rely totally on charitable donations, so in recognition of the essential services they provide, I would like to show my gratitude by fund raising on their behalf. 

So I am asking all my family & friends if they would help me raise as much as possible for this very worthwhile cause.
