Story

Hi, My name is Isaac Wambua. I was born and raised in Kenya in a village called Kwa-Muli.

I’m here to ask for help raising $25,000 to send a container of shoes and school supplies to children in my village.

A summary of my story goes like this; born and raised on a farm, I  went to school in the village until I graduated high school. I am the fifth child in a family of seven children; two girls and five boys. Since we were old enough to understand and speak our native language (Kikamba), my mother taught us that hard work in school is the only way to succeed. And to support her word, she took us to school.

We grew up very poor and struggled to stay in school because my mother couldn't afford to pay the small fees required to keep a student in school. To make it worse, she couldn't get a professional job because she didn't know how to read or write.

I thank God for her because she stood firm and vowed not to let us get swallowed by the world, as she called it. She went to work, farming and doing odd jobs for the rich so that we could have food on the floor (remember I said food on the floor, not on the table because we didn’t have one.) We were introduced to hard labor at a young age because we couldn’t watch our mother die from doing construction-like work all by herself.

One of the main things we struggled with was the lack of school supplies.

While attending school, I had to devise ways of getting notebooks and pens. I resorted to helping kids from wealthy families with their homework so they could tear for me a few blank pages to take s notes on.

After graduating from college, I moved to the United States where I live with my wife and our two beautiful children.

I have been blessed to build a successful career as an entrepreneur, business coach, and speaker.

Even though I don't live in the village anymore, I have a heart for the families and the children who right now still struggle to meet their basic needs.

In December of 2021. I got an opportunity to go back to the village and visit the primary school I attended.

Even after more than twenty years since I left the school, the village still has children who can not afford food, school supplies, clothes, and shoes.

That’s why I’m returning to the same village to distribute school supplies and shoes to the children in the village. The trip will be in early 2023, and the goal is to provide shoes and school supplies for each of the five primary schools, Kavoko, Yakalia, Maamani, Ivuku, and Kangalu.

Will you join me in raising funds to send a container of shoes and school supplies?

Thank you for your help.
