Story

Back in January, our mum and grandmother, Jean Cox, lost her battle with cancer and spent her last few days in St Margaret's Hospice, Taunton. The experience was never going to be a happy one, as it wasn't destined to end well, but thanks to the angels at St Margaret's Hospice, it was entirely without fear or terror. Rather it was full of love, caring, compassion and understanding and we came away realising that without these special people it would have been so much worse, not only for Mum, but for the rest of the family too.

Since then, we have wanted to give something back and are determined to raise at least £2,000 for the Hospice.

The hospice movement depends on charitable donations in order to continue to offer this incredible and essential service to anyone who needs it and we felt that raising money would be the best way to say thank you and to help ensure that the service will be there when you or I need it in the future.

So we're walking from Nether Stowey in Somerset to Lynton in Devon, a route regularly walked by Coleridge and Wordsworth in the 1790s. It's 51 miles in total and we plan to do it in 24 hours, partly because the 'Coleridge Way in a Day' has a nice ring to it, and partly because it's going to be a bit of a slog, and we hope that'll get your attention and help persuade you to donate.

Please be generous: we've come to realise how wonderful the people are who care for us at these hospices and how much hope and peace they offer to those who are experiencing their darkest hour.

Thank you,

David, Philip, Warwick, Ben, Alex, Joel and Adam.
