Cranham Church PCC is planning to build an accessible toilet in the churchyard, not just for use by church visitors, but as an amenity for the whole village. We intend that this ‘Parish Privy’ will be open all day, so that anyone can use it, including visitors to the Playground such as Cranham C of E School pupils, local children, tennis players and walkers.
We are participating in the national Ride + Stride event run locally by the Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust, in order to raise funds. Half the money raised will go to the GHCT, but the rest will be refunded to Cranham PCC and put towards the Parish Privy project.
On Saturday 8th September, many village volunteers will be riding and striding between local churches. Four distinct groups will be setting off on their different campaigns:
THE LONG RIDE
A circular route for experienced cyclists visiting 30 churches and covering 53.1 miles with nearly 3,000ft of ascent, going as far as the Cotswold Water Park.
THE SHORT RIDE
From Cranham Church to Sheepscombe Church and back (4 miles), this activity is specially for youngsters and families and anyone wanting a short cycle ride (or even a walk!)
Visiting 10 Churches starting at Cirencester Parish Church and ending at Cranham Church, this 17.4 mile run will be led by Cranham runner, Liza Darroch, as part of her training, following her selection to race as an England Master at the MBNA Chester Marathon in October.
THE POINT2POINT RIDE
Some horse riders will be travelling cross country from Cranham to Sheepscombe, making the traditional point-to-point journey from church steeple to church steeple.
Please support these wonderful participants by donating on their behalf to GHCT and the Cranham Parish Privy project using this JustGiving page. If you are sponsoring a particular participant, or one of the teams, please mention their names in your donation, to encourage them as they take part. Many thanks to all those taking part, and also to everyone that sponsors them.
