Story
CS and the SCC began working together in 2006, when the two organizations came together to host an art and photography exhibition. The exhibition was a great success, raising awareness among the attendees about the need for education support in Vietnam, as well as exhibiting the talent of the students. In 2008, CS and SCC further strengthened their partnership, joining up to present an art and photography exhibition for a second time. It was at this exhibition that CS announced its generous support of the SCC’s scholarship program and their school building program. With the funds donated by CS, SCC was able to sponsor 22 children with primary, secondary and university-level scholarships. In addition to their support of individual students, CS has helped to provide education to an entire community through SCC’s school building program.
Charity begins at home, but it should not end there. In August 2014, 38 CS Volunteers embarked on a journey to one of the poorest communes in South-Vietnam, in the rural area of Tra Vinh. We had one goal in mind - to complete building Hieu Trung B primary school in time for the school opening ceremony. We pushed, we painted, we scraped, we cemented, we washed, we swept while facing the unpredictable and harsh weather conditions to successfully complete a fully operational primary school for 300 children in Tra Vinh.
