Cumbria Packraft Ultra, 17 August 2021
We are the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) and we're leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.

Story

First ever Continuous Journey of all the Lakes District
Lakes - starting 17th August

We are calling it the Lakes Packraft Ultra Marathon

Using lightweight "packrafts" and walking between each lake in an unsupported expedition over 6 days. We will be carrying all our own equipment (Including bivvy bags, sleeping bags, etc) and my Collie dog Bud will be coming all as well

11 Lakes (all lakes over 1 mile that are legal to paddle)

Paddling total 80 kms (50 miles)

Walking total 160 kms (100 miles)

Total ascent 4,200 metres (14,000 feet)

It will be a tough challenge and my friend Alistair
Shawcross and myself will have to cover over 25 miles each day in total

I am raising funds for a mental health charity as well as
hoping to inspire people to get out and take on adventures in their local area

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM run a free and confidential helpline and webchat 7 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who needs to talk about life's problems.
