Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Daisy and Arlo were both born prematurely at Preston Royal Hospital in May this year. Daisy was born at 24 weeks weighing 1lb 8 oz  and Arlo was born at 23 weeks weighing 1lb 1oz. They spent their first few months of life together in hospital on the neonatal unit. Their journeys have been quite similar throughout and they have had to overcome so many hurdles along the way- from being on a ventilator and Cpap when they needed support to breathe to travelling to liverpool for laser eye surgery. They both finally came home  to meet their families in September -without needing any home oxygen and managing to feed without support. Both Arlo and Daisy are thriving now that they are home and loving spending lots of quality time with their families.  Arlo weighs 9lb 8oz and Daisy weighs 8 lb 1oz.

Daisy and Arlo stayed in opposite incubators on the Neonatal intensive care unit back when they were tiny and really rather poorly. After being discharged, we all decided that we wanted to try and raise some money for the charity ‘Baby Beat’ which supports the Sharoe Green Maternity and Neonatal unit at Preston Hospital. They raise funds to purchase equipment for the unit such as a sensory unit and ultrasound machine.

We would like to say a massive thank you to the NICU team for the amazing work they do everyday! They literally saved our babies lives and we cannot thank them enough for this! During our time on the unit, the staff became like family - supporting us through the difficult times and celebrating the tiny milestones throughout the good times. This was especially important to us as we had our babies during a global pandemic. Restrictions meant that visiting had been restricted to one parent at a time and other family members couldn’t be there to support us or to meet their grandchildren until they came home.

The staff really are real life super heroes and we would love to give something back to them as a token of our appreciation.

We are asking for any kind donations to help us reach our target of £250 for our sponsored walk. On the 21st of December, Daisy and Arlo will be going on a Festive walk through Blackpool illuminations ( all being well that they have been switched on by then). Daisy and Arlo will wear their best Christmas outfits and we will have a bit of  tinsel and fairy lights for the prams! If you could spare just a few minutes to give a small donation to this great cause we would be so grateful.

We would have invited people to join us if it wasn’t for COVID restrictions but there is nothing stopping anyone else going on their own walk if you wish to join in!

Thank you for looking at our page and donating.

Rachael and Sam (Daisy’s parents) and Kelly and Lewis ( Arlo’s parents).
