It's not something I would say is a "fun" thing for me. "I'm not built for it", I would often say to my wife. My excuses for not getting into shape/challenging myself are usually ignored, and this was no different. Upon return home late one evening, I was informed I'd been signed up for a 10K.
At first I thought "Curses!", but have now seen I can use this opportunity to do something positive for myself and others as well.
This will be the first major "run" I've ever taken part in and will be doing so to try and raise money/awareness for something that effects a lot of men around the UK/The world, including many people I know and myself personally; Mental Health.
A few years ago, an issue with my own mental health came to light, and it's something I've struggled with for a few years now. Thanks to the support of my family, friends and GP, it's been something that I can now manage and move forward with. Some people, and men in particular, will refuse help as it is seen as a sign of weakness, and CALM is a charity focused on helping those who need it, whilst re-educating the men of the world, to show it's OK to get help and that you are not "weak" or "broken" for doing so.
My Donation Goal is very low, mainly as I'm not sure if I can reach any sort of goal at all, but the plus to this is , if it goes over then it's great for the charity.
If you would like to donate, please do so, as it would mean a lot to myself, and it would be helping a great charity in the process.
