Our beautiful baby boy Oscar was born extremely premature at 25 weeks and 2 days gestation on the 7th June 2010 at 3:38pm.  Although Oscar was born at Great Western Hospital in Swindon, because he was so premature he was unable to be cared for here and was therefore transferred to St Michaels Hospital in Bristol, which is the leading Neonatal Specialist Hospital in the South West.

From the very beginning of his journey Oscar showed true strength, courage and determination and filled us with love and inspiration.  During Oscar’s life he underwent an operation on his bowel at 6 days old, a blood infection, a lumbar puncture, several blood transfusions and daily tests.  Even when Oscar’s condition was deteriorating he continued to show signs of strength and improvement and proved to be a real fighter right to the end.  Oscar sadly lost his battle after 28 very courageous days and passed away on the 6th July 2010 at 7.43am.

 

As part of Dangly Carrot Marketing Solutions commitment to giving something back and doing what we can for Charity we have signed up to the “Cots for Tots Business Challenge”. 

The Cots for Tots Appeal aims to raise £1 million for the Special Care Baby Unit at St. Michael’s Hospital in Bristol, to help save the lives of premature and critically ill new-born babies from across the South West region.  The specialist unit is the only one of its kind in the region able to provide life-saving treatment for babies with the most complex medical problems. 

The funding will provide a new suite of 4 intensive care cot’s and specialist medical equipment which will enable up to 150 more babies to be treated in the Unit each year.

Our first Charity fund-raising event will take place at the 147 Snooker Club on Saturday 28^th May.  The event will be a snooker exhibition with the World number 19, Stephen Lee. 

The evening will involve Stephen playing a selection of 8 players, entertaining the crowd with his lively banter, a charity raffle and the chance to have your picture with Stephen and talk to him.  If you are interested in playing Stephen feel free to contact me on 07809 503 218 or info@danglycarrot.co.uk and I will let you know how you can get involved.  If you are interested in tickets or sponsoring the event please also get in touch.
