Story

I'm looking to gain your support to raise some money for a great charity called Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research).

In August this year, I will be taking on one of the world's toughest endurance events – the Enduroman Arch to Arc.

The event will see me start at Marble Arch in London, where I will proceed to run 87 miles down to Dover. Once arrived, I enter transition one where I will have a short break to refuel and recover. I will then swim 21 miles across the English Channel, with official rules not allowing me to touch/get on the pilot boat at any point. Once arrived, I enter transition two, where again I have time to refuel and recover, before cycling 181 miles to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris to finish the event. Typically, if successful, this event is completed between 60-80hrs.

I will take on the event as a solo, meaning I won't be part of a team or have any other runners, swimmers or cyclist competing along side me. However, due to the complex nature of the event logistics, I will have a support vehicle for the run and cycle and will be guided across the English Channel (the world's busiest shipping lane) by a pilot boat.

The get to the position has been an 18-month journey. From initially throwing my hat in the ring to take on the challenge, a selection process, training camps and completing qualifying swims in January of 6hrs and 10hrs. In 2019, as preparation, I have attended sea swim camps in Lanzarote, Portland and Mallorca. In Mallorca, I completed 52 miles of swimming in 6 days, including two consecutive 6hr – 13.5 mile swims, one of which covered the stunning Cabrera Channel.

At this stage, it's worth me setting expectations. Since 2000, there have been 70 solo attempts to complete this event, of which only 34 (49%) have been successful. This doesn't include the dozens of people that didn't make it to the start line. The vast majority of people fail during to the swim, which in itself is a massive test of endurance, but coupled with an 87 mile run before starting, does catch people out! That said, I can only surround myself with positivity and will ensure everyone, especially those that have supported me throughout this journey that I will give 100%.

I want to ensure as much good can come out of this as possible.
I have set up a JustGiving page to raise money for Bloodwise, a great charity that I have raised money for many times.

I really hope you can support me and raise some money for a great cause.
