For most people, the thought of spending days, weeks, birthdays or Christmas alone is not even a passing consideration. We would just make plans, leave the house and see friends or family, right? 

What about if you can’t leave the house on a whim? What if your family isn’t nearby or your friends aren’t around? Your only option is to stay where you are and hope that someone may pop over. 

The sad reality is that people don’t just pop over, generally for similar reasons. You are left on your own - sometimes for weeks - without human contact. All because you are old, infirm or essentially forgotten about. 

I’m going against my body, lifestyle and the laws of physics to run 10k. In doing so, I hope to raise a bit of money for a charity that brings so much happiness for people who sit alone and depressed, day after day. 

Some of my friends will know of a lady called Pat that was helped by the charity to meet a good friend of mine. Our paths crossed and listening to her talk of the difference it has made to her life was incredible..

I’ve never done anything like this before, so it would great to do something that benefits people who really need some support and raise some money for a great cause!
