Four incredible folk - Aidan, Andrew, Danny, and Stephen - are running 26.2 miles in the 2019 London Marathon to raise money to support our work accompanying destitute refugees and people seeking asylum.

Story

Thanks for supporting me to run 26.2 miles in aid of the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) UK. I am so delighted I can call the UK home. I live in London, where I feel welcome and know I belong. I want others - especially the most vulnerable - to know that they are welcome in our country, too.

Han has been supported by JRS UK for a year. Deprived of the right to work and precluded from accessing any benefits and like many seeking asylum, she is unable to afford to pay for her basic needs.Han explains, "I have been denied housing, healthcare, legal aid and I don't have any money to support myself."

Thanks to the support and generosity of incredible people like you, JRS is able to run a Day Centre for around 240 destitute refugees each month providing hot meals and a warm welcome, advice, travel grants and toiletries." When I came to JRS I found each volunteer trying to put in their best effort to welcome me with my name, which in itself is a source of comfort. Each time, each encounter gives me strength to fight for my life."

Your sponsorship will support refugees to access justice, to visit friends, to participate in community and live a flourishing life. Thanks for your support!
