Welcome to 2021 EXTREME!!

2020 was a terrible year for everyone and things did not get much better at the start of 2021!! There have been many victims of this pandemic and everyone has a story to tell, but many charities are at risk of calling it a day on vital projects that they support. Now more than ever, we need to support charities as they have lost millions due to the cancelling of landmark fundraising events.

Fight fo Sight is a charity close to my heart as they fund ground breaking research for many sight disorders, including Best's disease and other forms of macular degeneration. I have Best's disease and so does my beautiful daughter Grace. My vision has progressively worsened due to the cells at the back of my eye dying away. I can no longer read properly, have not driven for 10 years and will probably lose all fine vision in the next few years. THERE IS NO TREATMENT AND NO CURE! The research that Fight fr Sight fund is vital in helping to find out more about this and other devastating eye conditions. PLEASE HELP! Your help could save thousands of peoples vision!

I must admit that my own fundraising efforts took a nose dive last year. Personally, I felt very low as the pandemic progressed and had family commitments to contend with, but I am determined that 2021 will be different! I intend to complete a range of extreme challenges that will stretch me to my limit and will raise awareness of the plight of FIGHT for SIGHT and the funding crisis.

In January I started a 10K a Day challenge, which was where I finished last year. Unfortunately, I sustained a shoulder injury and had to stop! Personal circumstances have meant that the road to full fitness has been slower than intended, but we are now back!! There have also been some cancellations and rescheduling of events due to this latest lockdown, but things are looking up so here is the intended plan for the rest of 2021!

• Royal Parks half marathon
• Three days in Yorkshire Sportive Tour style multi-day event
• Somerset dipper 100 miles of cycling over Somerset hills including Cheddar Gauge!
• Virtual Lands end to John O'Groats cycle/run - cycle and run 1085 miles during the month of February 
• The Dragon Devil ride and the Yorkshire Beast - two of the hardest sportive events in the country and I will complete them both this June
• Race to the Stones - 100km trail run along the Ridgeway finishing at Avebury stone circle.
• Three Peaks Cycle Challenge - walk up Snowdon, Scarfell Pike and Ben Nevis and cycle from one peak to the next... all in 4 days.
• vEveresting - cycle the height of Everest (8850m) in one day!
• The Brutal Duathlon - run 15 miles, cycle 118 miles and then a 9 mile run to the top of Snowdon and back.
