Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Well it's been almost two years now since I last asked anyone for some charity money, so I thought it might be safe to try again!

Hiking up Kilimanjaro has been a big ambition for many years and as we are funding the trip totally ourselves, we thought it would be a great opportunity to try and also raise some money for a charity that is very relevant to us. The MNDA do so much for those affected by MND, pretty much single-handedly, by helping with advice, equipment, respite care and they also carry out important research into possible causes and hopefully one day, a cure. MND is a nasty debilitating terminal disease with no cure. The effects on the patient are quite horrific, 24hr care is needed as you slowly lose the function of your entire body until total paralysis sets in. Imagine not being able to speak, eat or clear your throat of mucus whilst all the time your mind is in perfect working order and is fully aware of everything going on around you. This is also pretty tough on the families who become carers which is where the MNDA really make a day-to-day difference.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

We know these days there are so many appeals for so many charities, all worthwhile, so literally anything you can spare, even just a couple of quid would be pretty cool.
