We provide a helpline, and webchat service to help prevent suicide in the UK

Story

Hi

Last year I decided to set myself  a challenge of raising awareness and funds for CALM - a charity that is dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. This was because
my good friend Alex Gattas took his own life in January 2016 leaving his family and friends in complete shock and unable to understand why such a talented and loved man could have been in such a dark place.

So on Sunday 23rd July I will be attempting to complete The Castle Howard Gauntlet  - a half iron man race that  includes a 1.9km swim in the lake, 90km bike ride up and down North Yorkshires hills  and 21km cross country run all in Alex’s memory and hope to get more people talking about metal health.

Like you, I receive plenty of these emails asking for donations and this email is no different. Just £7 will cover the cost for one call in the support call centre that could help someone like Alex.

I would also ask you to look at the CALM website as it’s a small charity in need of support. I have also put a link to a video I recorded on the anniversary of Alex’s death talking about my experiences and trying to encourage people to speak about mental health.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for your support.
