We fund life changing research to change the future of spinal cord injury

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I am running the London Marathon on 26th April 2009 for the charity Spinal Research.

Just over 6 years ago a friend of mine - Tom Harper - broke his neck in a swimming pool accident which left him paralysed from the neck down. Tom was just 24 when the accident happened and was very active enjoying lots of different sports. After spending a year in hospital Tom now lives with his girlfriend in Wimborne. He has re-built his life and remains positive. Tom is a former Bere Regis resident where his family still reside.

A bit about Spinal Research - More than 40,000 people in the UKare paralysed as the result of spinal cord damage and this type of injury can happen to anyone, often as a result of a sporting injury, road traffic accident or serious fall.  The spinal cord cannot repair itself unaided, but research has already shown that there are ways to generate some re-growth in the spinal column. Spinal Research has no direct government funding so replies totally on donations.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Spinal Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now and help me raise money for people like Tom!

Thanks for your support,

David
