Charity Registration No. 1005541 and in Scotland (SC039332)

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As part of our Prostate Cancer UK agreement with the Football League it has been asked that a representative from Derby County takes part in the London to Amsterdam Cycle Challenge in aid of Prostate Cancer.  The aim is to make this event the largest football themed cycle challenge in the UK and raise over £100,000 for the fight against Prostate Cancer with football legend Luther Blissett also taking part with representatives from talkSPORT and other football clubs and their fans.

In the UK, about 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer at some point in their lives. Older men, men with a family history of prostate cancer.Prostate cancer mainly affects men over the age of 50 and your risk increases with age. The average age for men to be diagnosed with prostate cancer is between 70 and 74 years. If you are under 50 then your risk of getting prostate cancer is very low. Younger men can be affected, but this is rare.

Prostate cancer can grow slowly or very quickly. Most prostate cancer is slow-growing to start with and may never cause any problems in a man's lifetime or even have any symtons. However, some men will have cancer that is more aggressive or 'high risk.' This needs treatment to help prevent or delay it spreading outside the prostate gland.

I have decided to take up this challenge in order to raise as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause into the reseasrch and to help men and their families who are living with Prostate Cancer.

So, on the eve of the 2014 World Cup I will ride from one home of “Total Football” (The Matchroom Stadium, home of Leyton Orient FC) to another AFC Ajax and raise money to help more men survive prostate cancer. We will ride capital to capital in 48 hours (200km) between 6 – 8 June 2014.

As an individual I am hoping to raise at least £2,000.00 and along with various events I am hoping that generous people like yourselves would like to either make a pledge to or to be an advertising sponsor. This would mean for example the sponsorship of my t-shirt. By sponsoring me in this way your business logo would be worn on the entire challenge and also on all training events that I have planned For example I am completing a 10k assault course in March 2014 and the Derby 10k. A full training plan will be provided for me through my gym “Funktion Fitness”.

There are several ways in which you can show your support, there are :

·         T-Shirt Sponsorship as attached

·         Bike Sponsorship

·         Donation of Raffle/Competition prizes

·         Cash Donation

All your support will be greatly received.

Thank you in advance
