We need to improve our farm buildings to have more landcraft training places

Story

The residents at Garvald Home Farm have all chosen different ways to help raise money for new buildings and equipment. Dean, with technical and artistic guidance from Nicholas, Dominic and Chris has written and performed a fantastic original song about life on the farm. If you make a donation, a link to the song will be emailed to you automatically, along with the password required to view it.

NB: you will probably get two emails from JustGiving: the second one, with the subject line "thank you for your donation" contains the password. Please don't spoil the fun -- keep the password to yourself.

If you have difficulties the video can be accessed on https://vimeo.com/252473474 (this is not a clickable link) -- please email development@garvaldhomefarm.co.uk for assistance with the password.

You can find out more about the farm on our website www.garvaldhomefarm.co.uk.

About the charity

Garvald Home Farm is a small community of people, some with a learning disability, living and working together on our organic farm. The Farm is run following biodynamic principles and our produce of meat, milk, vegetables, eggs and wool are certified by the Biodynamic Agriculture Association (BDAA) to organic and Demeter standard. For 30 years work on the farm has provided a variety of meaningful activities and learning opportunities which we hope to expand, offering training and work experience to the wider community. To make our farmyard a safer and more people friendly space to work with large stock and manoeuvre machinery, we plan to divert a road and replace the dilapidated Dutch barn with one set further back. Another shed will be doubled in size providing better shelter for more stock. In the historic farm steading the existing dairy and meat processing facilities will be upgraded, allowing Garvald Home Farm to produce and sell an expanded range of produce to local markets and provide more learning and employment opportunities. We also need to improve the style and capacity of the accommodation. One wing of the farmhouse is due for refurbishment to provide more comfortable and up to date facilities for staff and residents. We propose to address the historic shortage of space for residents by constructing two Scandinavian-style log cabins in the Garden grounds. Garvald Home Farm is looking at an exciting future and we hope very much that you want to be part of it.
