London Marathon 2018 · 22 April 2018 ·

Hull & East Yorkshire Medical Research Centre (Daisy Appeal) opened in 2008. The charity built the Jack Brignall PET-CT Scanning Centre in 2014. In 2024 we built a Molecular Imaging Research Centre to produce PET CT tracers. We are fundraising for a £3m digital scanner to help save more lives.

Story

I have worked as a nurse in hull for a long time and have nursed many people affected by these diseases. I run in memory of those who have sadly been lost, and in hope for everyone's future. Every pound donated helps research to improve everyone's treatment options and outcome. Help make cancer, heart disease and dementia a thing of the past. Since it was established in 2000, the Daisy Appeal has raised £12.5m to fund cutting-edge research and state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. We built an £8m research centre, which opened in 2008, and in 2014 we opened the £4.5m Jack Brignall PET-CT Scanning Centre. Both are on the Castle Hill Hospital site. We now want to build a £7.2m radiochemistry and cyclotron unit so we can produce our own radioactive tracers.
