Story
Hi, my name is Callum Buchanan and I am 2yrs 10mths old. I currently live in Tidworth, Hampshire, with my twin brother Mitchell, my mummy Dee and my daddy Scott. My mummy and daddy are originally from Helensburgh and this is where my Grandparents and Great-Grandparents still live. I hope you enjoy reading my story.
I was born on the 20th May 2010 at 28 weeks and I weighed 2lb 14oz. I spent 3 months in special care until I was well enough to go home. At 8 months old I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy is a condition which affects different individuals in different ways. I cannot sit, crawl or walk unaided.
I have to do physiotherapy every day and attend hospital on avarage 3 times a month, this means i cannot attend nursery to play with my friends or keep up with my able bodied brother.
The reason for my fundrasing is that I have the chance of a fantastic life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy at the St Louis children's hospital in America. After the operation it will take me a little while to learn to walk with intense physiotherapy. Hopefully the end result will be positive and I will be able to do all the things that I long to do and keep up with my brother.
My family and friends have lots of great ideas to raise the money and I hope that with all your support I can raise the £75,000 needed to fund the operation and aftercare.
Callum is continuing to progress following his SDR op but still needs lots of physio therapy so the time has come to do some more fundraising in the form of a SKYDIVE woo hoo. Myself and some friends are going to throw ourselves out of a plane for Callum's Walking Wish, if you would like to donate please do to help Callum reach his goal of walking, Callum is getting there with his walking in his walker now with minimal support from an adult. Please help us to help Callum .
