Story
I'm hoping to raise money for the Devon Air Ambulance as a
way of saying thank you to the amazing service they give.
On the 1st December 2016 my dear brother was involved in a
tragic road accident. DAAT picked Steve up and took him to Derriford where he underwent major surgery due to a severe head injury. Steve sadly passed away 2 days later. If it hadn't have been for DAAT my sister, brother-in-law and I would not have had the opportunity to be by his side, holding his hands during his last few days.
Steve was a donor so out of the tragedy 2 lives were saved - another reason to thank DAAT.
Steve himself was a charitable man volunteering for Save the
Children, Water Aid and Nystagmus. He was never one to let his own disability stop him from achieving anything he wanted to achieve in life... my big brother was my inspiration when he was with us and he continues to be. It would be amazing to raise money for charity that needs millions (solely from donations) to keep the service operating.
Many thanks for reading this and hopefully contributing a
small amount.
Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) owns 2 helicopters and operates 7 days a week; in autumn 2016 DAAT extended the flying hours until midnight. Responding to approximately 1,400 incidents every year DAAT conveys patients to the specialist treatment centre most appropriate for their needs, giving them the best chance of survival. The service costs £5.5 million every year and DAAT is proud to be independent of Government and National Lottery funding, relying solely on the generous donations of the people, businesses and communities of Devon.
