Story

RUN FAT BOY RUN – 1st May 2021

Hi All, I hope you don’t mind me reaching out.

It’s official I’ve signed up, and I need some help please!. Some of you may or may not be aware, for the last year and a bit I’ve been on small fitness kick (hopefully you’ve noticed 😊), I’ve been more times to the gym or a bootcamp than Nando’s in the past year and its noticeably hurt their bottom line!

I like a challenge, some may say a little bit too much! This one will push me to a place I haven’t yet taken myself, but it’s for a good cause, so the pain should be worth it.

I’m not a runner, not built for it and to be fair I absolutely hate it, or I thought I did. Over the COVID period, it was the only training I was really able to do, to mine and others surprise I managed to run a marathon.

I Just got up on a Sunday and ran, no real prior running training, I think it was my 10th run that year and I managed it in just over 4 hours.

When I got back I started to think, what could I do if I trained? how many more miles could I run? I haven’t ran since that marathon either 😊

So I have now decided to sign up for the IOW ultra. It’s a short bimble around the IOW, running into the wind mainly and some uphill, I thought the IOW was flat!, nope 1960m of climb but don’t worry, its only 106km and I have a target time of under 15 hours, easy right, What could go wrong?

As part of this I wanted to raise some money for a local charity. I’ve chosen Naomi House Children’s Hospice, they do amazing work that supports Children and their families through the toughest of times. The aim is to raise a minimum of £500. If you can please do, every penny is appreciated.

Thanks very much for your support
