Story

Dewi will be having a second operation in St Louis on the 1st August. The procedure is a bilateral gastroc recession. This should stop Dewi's feet turning inwards while he is walking and reduce the pain. Dewi will have to wear braces and splints for 6-8 weeks and also undertake intense physiotherapy. Dewi will have to go back to 5 times a week physio for 6 months then 3-4times a week for the next 36 months.
We are hoping this will keep Dewi on track to reaching his Dreams as he has regressed and is no longer able to jump and he tells us he really wants to be able to keep up with his buddies in the school yard.
If you are thinking of fundraising this year please could you consider Dewi's Dreams.

My name is Dewi, I am 3 years old from Pontypridd and my dreams are to be able to Jump, run, to kick a ball, to be able to walk without falling over and to be without pain.

I have recently been diagnosed with diaplegia spacicity cerebral palsy and this effects my walking ability to balance and I get tired very easily. I currently wear splints but my Mammy and Daddy call them *Space Boots* up to the knee and I wear gators which have cars on them to bed and I will be having my wheelchair any day soon. I have a physio therapist who comes to see me once a week and my Mammy and Daddy give me daily physio therapy.

My Mammy and Daddy have found an Operation I can have called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). The NHS in Wales are only funding 8 children a year to have this operation and we don't know if I will be selected or even how long the wait will be. The sooner I have it done the less chance my bones will deform. So my Mammy and Daddy and my 8 year old Sister want to raise money for me either to self-fund and have the operation in England or go to St Louis in the USA . If I am lucky enough for the Welsh Assembly to fund this operation I will still need to pay thousands to have extensive  private physio therapy for the following two years to get the best results.

Love

Dewi and Family  xx

Should we exceed the target amount (or if we do not raise enough funds, or if they cannot be used for any other reason) the funds raised will go to the general funds of Tree of Hope to assist other sick children.
