Story
This year I have completed the Great Manchester Run (10k) (see update and pics below) and am now preparing frantically for the Great North Run (half marathon, 13m) all to support The Cystic Fybrosis Trust.
This will be the second time in my life I have done a half marathon and the first time almost finshed me off :-) This time I am taking training much more seriously as a great charity are counting on me. I'm cutting down on chocolate, running 3 times a week, gradually increasing the distance and generally sacrificing lazy and vegetative time spending in my life.
Update on Great Manchester Run: I completed the Great Manchester Run in 55mins which I was truly happy about and which puts me in good racing form for the Great North Run. You can see photos and evidence of my time here:
So why am I doing all this: A close member of my family recently had the most gorgeous baby girl who was diagnosed with CF as soon as she was born. The CF Trust have been an excellent source of information and support and their proactive and positive approach is lovely. Towards the end of 2011 the CF Trust head into a multi-dose clinical trial to replace the faulty gene that causes CF with a healthy copy. They are leading the world with this ground-breaking research that has the potential to prevent the development of the lung damage that causes 90% of deaths from Cystic Fibrosis. Please support me and help this essential research continue:
