Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My first Great North Run was many years ago, and after crossing the finish line in over 4 hours, I wrapped up in a space blanket and headed home realising my fitness wasn't where it should have been! The day however was amazing.
Since that dark day, I've helped to raise over £30,000 for various charities by cycling coast to coast in a day (and c2c and back in a day!), cycling between and climbing the 3 Peaks in 3 days, cycling around Majorca, completing the Raid Pyrenees and completing an Ironman in Switzerland followed by a half Ironman in Alcudia. It's fair to say, I love pushing my body and mind well beyond what is thought possible. Just to be clear, I am not an athlete and quite often I am dragging myself around these challenges.
I've met some amazing friends through these challenges that either participate in them also or support and help with them. I couldn't do any of this without them.
The challenge for 2019 is to complete a marathon, which is something I have never done as part of a stand alone challenge before. But I love a twist and I love sharing the story and telling people about great charities and the great Tees Valley that I was born in and work around.
From these thoughts, the New York marathon was an obvious one followed by another one in Honolulu a month later so that I can test my willpower and body in extremely hot and humid conditions.
I'd love your support to raise money and awareness for one of Teesside's beloved charities Zoë's Place. For those not aware of the work the charity does, they provide palliative, respite and end of life care to babies and infants.
Every penny and bit of support is totally appreciated and welcomed. I can't thank you all enough. Please share the challenge, tell people you know and ask me when you see me.
