Hello Everyone,

My name is Dionne Hinds and I have created this page to honour the care provided by St. Joseph’s Hospice for my husband, Kaz Hinds.

Kaz was an amazing husband and father to our 2 daughters, Janae and Kadi. We met 17 years ago, while at work and I loved how intelligent and kind he was. He was always there for me and I learnt so much from him, it was a true privilege to be married to such a great man.

On 18th July 2015, we got married in a beautiful wedding ceremony in East London, with all of our loved ones present.

On 22nd May last year, we received the devastating news that Kaz had been diagnosed with cancer and things deteriorated with him very quickly. In such a short space of time, our very normal life completely turned upside down. Through it all, Kaz, remained Kaz, never asking for much. Kaz fought a good fight in his final days and somehow managed the strength to even make jokes and laugh about the situation (I miss his laugh so much).

In Kaz’s final days, I never left his side while he was looked after by the amazing, caring staff at St. Joseph Hospice who always ensured he was as comfortable as possible.

The 18th July is no longer a date I can celebrate but its a date I will always remember. It would have been our anniversary (another first - My first anniversary without Kaz💔😭💔😞). So it is only right that I do something to remember my husband.

I have decided to do a Charity Walk on the day in his memory. I will be taking part in a 10 mile walk, stopping at various places that meant a lot to Kaz and I along the way.

Kaz was a kind gentle soul, always happy to help. I know he would like to give back to those who helped him in his final weeks.
