“MILITARY IN MOTION. BE YOUR OWN WINNER. HELPING YOU BE FITTER IN BODY AND MIND”
About the Trust
The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust are a UK youth sports charity which supports 11-25 year-olds who are harder to engage in both education and in the community.
They achieve this by training and developing world class athletes to deliver personal, social and emotional development programmes for young people facing disadvantage. Through transformational mentoring, young people’s confidence, resilience and self-esteem increases which enables them to move into employment, become leaders within their communities, achieve in education and to improve their wellbeing through sport and physical activity.
Across the 3 years from 2018-2021, they will support at least 3,000 young people who are harder to reach, to achieve their potential. Each of these 3,000 young people, will inspire 5 more people within their community through their social action projects.
About the Challenge
In 2020 Captain Sir Tom inspired the nation with his amazing fundraising efforts. Friday 30 April would have been Captain Sir Tom’s 101st birthday and is the one-year anniversary of the extraordinary celebrations that followed the conclusion of his fundraising walk that raised an incredible £38.9 million for the NHS.
To celebrate this achievement and help raise much needed funds to support young people, the team at the Trust decided to get involved with the challenge this year - and we'd love YOU to get involved as well.
All you need to do is dream up your Captain Tom 100 – an activity of your choice based around the numbers 100 – and do it any time and
anywhere from Friday 30 April through to Bank Holiday Monday 3 May. So far the Trust have come up with the following ideas which might inspire you:
Building 100 sandcastles on the beach
Playing 100 holes of Crazy Golf
Performing a 100 second dance routine on a hover board
100 minutes of NON STOP HIIT activity
Scoring 100 penalties
Playing vinyl non stop for 100 minutes
Scoring 100 basketball shots
Your 100 could be walking 100 steps or running 100 metres, scoring 100 goals, baking 100 cakes, climbing 100 stairs, hopping 100 laps of the garden, writing a 100-word poem, flipping 100 pancakes – anything at all, inside or outside.
It’s your chance to do it your way!
