Story
Hello, my name is Chloe & the lady with the beautiful smile in the photo is my late Nanna, Molly.
Last year, near the end of January 2021, Molly was taken into hospital after becoming ill. We had noticed her skin was turning yellow which caused us concern which led to us taking her to A&E to seek medical help. It was then confirmed by the doctor that she had developed Jaundice which explained the yellowing of her skin.
The NHS staff decided to keep Molly in the hospital to do further tests to find the cause of her Jaundice.
Because this was during the lockdown we was told we cannot visit so we had to rely soley on phone calls from the hospital.
Early February 2021 came, Molly was still in hospital. She had a stent put in to help clear the Jaundice which was a success so that gave us abit of positivity.
However, not long after this, we got the worse news that no one would ever want to hear, Molly was diagnosed terminally with Pancreatic Cancer.
In a small moment, everything changed and nothing felt the same anymore, all our hearts truly shattered. Myself and the whole family, near and far, was in shock and quickly had to come to terms with it all by concentrating on preparing her house with all the essentials and equipment needed, ready for her return home.
We all came together and helped each other to get everything clean and tidy while still trying to process it all.
Without going into too much further detail, as upsetting and distressing as it was and still is for us all, it was a very tough and challenging time, watching our dearly beloved go through such a nasty, cruel illness.
On Monday 17th May 2021, Molly sadly passed away surrounded by her family.
We all miss her so much.
This year leading up to the 1 year anniversary of my nanna passing away, I wanted to do something that could help someone, anyone who is currently battling this devastating illness.
I will be cutting and donating my hair to another charity that makes wigs for children with Cancer, and as a bonus the money raised from this page will be going to Cancer Research UK.
On a personal note from myself, after having seen every last detail of what this dreadful illness does to a person, I just want to help in any way I can.
Please if possible, donate to this wonderful charity, big or small, every donation is truly appreciated.
Thank you for reading, God bless
