Story

Update April 2017:

Well, sadly this Autumn is out of the question as the gorgeous Rupert will not be fit enough so I am aiming for spring 2018. However, it still may not be a possibility as Rupert is getting on a bit and a full BE80 may be far too much for him. However, I will continue to push myself and raise funds for this amazing charity and in memory of my amazing friend Zoe.

I will keep you updated.

October 2016

I must be mad!

The Wobbleberry Challenge is a challenge for "middle aged, wimpy riders" to compete in a British Eventing BE80 one day event in the autumn of 2017 involving Dressage, Show Jumping up to 85cm and a Cross Country course of at least 18 jumps up to 80cm high and 90cm spread.

I have only recently got back into horse riding after a break of 30 years so this will be a HUGE challenge for me. To get there will require many other challenges along the way - such as getting fit, loosing weight, conquering nerves, training hard, and learning the skills necessary to be able to compete safely, but mostly learning how to jump again!

I am doing this in the memory of my beautiful friend Zoe, who lost her battle with a brain tumour this week. Also in memory of Hannah Francis, a young eventer, who inspired thousands of people she never met, and achieved so much in her tragically short life. I want to raise money for the amazing charity she set up, Willberry Wonder Pony which raises funds for bone cancer research - and challenge and push myself to compete in her sport.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thanks to Chloe and Tara for letting me use the gorgeous Rupert to do this.

About the charity

The Charity was established by talented horse rider, Hannah Francis, following her diagnosis with the aggressive form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma. People all over the world followed Hannah's story which she told through her mascot, Willberry. Tragically Hannah passed away at just 18 years old.
