Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

My dad Ian (known to most people who knew him as "Duggy") gave many years of his life to working on the frontline tackling homelessness in Brighton, where he spent the last two decades (or so) of his life.

It wasn't just a job for my dad, helping others was a way of life. I remember how long it would take to get to the shop just to buy milk because of all of the people he would stop off and talk to on the way. Whether it was listening to people's problems, asking them about their day or simply rolling a cigarette and buying a cup of tea, he spent these years giving away his time to others who needed love and support the most.

Since his passing, we have had messages from people he helped explaining how he changed or even saved their lives and in his honour, we have chosen to collect donations for the Northampton Hope Centre.

The charity was brought to our attention by a family friend and we know that every pound raised goes directly to the cause. The Hope Centre supports around 120 people every day, providing hot meals, showers and clothes and also deliver a range of education, training & development activities. It costs £35,000 per month to run the centre.

Thanks to everyone for all of your messages so far,

Love from the Degnin family
