Story
I made it to 100mi and want to go further!! I’m carrying it to 1000mi by end of this year!
This past year has had a lot of changes for me and my peers. Some, like me, have moved homes, all of us have switched to a new BIGGER school with new responsibilities, new people, and we are doing this all under COVID lockdown. We are feeling MORE ISOLATED THAN EVER. The impact here in Sr. School is that we are facing more cases of anxiety, cyberbullying (we're all online schooling so more access to technological bullies) regular bullying (in or out of home), and depression.
Did you know that half of all mental health problems are there by the age of 14 and 75% of them by the time we are 24?? Up 5.2% since 2017!! Suicide is the single biggest killer of boys aged 5-19 and nearly half of 17-19 year olds with a mental health problem have either self harmed or attempted suicide at some point...and it just gets worse as we get older.
This is scary stuff and I want to help some kids my age by raising money to help them get the help they need.
Young Minds helps kids and their families to get the right help.
We need " To make sure all young people can get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what."
