Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On September 28th I will be holding an exhibition of original artworks created in response to the stories of inspirational women. These artworks will range from visual art to song. The name for the event pays homage to the women who were banished fromIona by St. Colomba and sent to live on a nearby rocky island, which soon became known as 'The Women's Island', or 'Eliean nam Ban.' I hope this can, in a small way, become its own Women's Island.

Although entry is free, I am collecting charitable donations for The Fawcett Society in the run up to the exhibition, as well as on the night itself.

Eliean nam Ban: Friday 28th September, 6.30pm, Main Arch at Sunshine International Arts C.A.F.E. (209A Coldharbour Ln, Brixton, London SW9 8RU).

A word from The Fawcett Society:

The Fawcett Society is the UK’s leading charity campaigning for gender equality and women’s rights.

We’ve been advancing women’s equality since 1866 when at just 19, Millicent Fawcett collected signatures on a petition for women’s votes. She went on to lead the constitutional suffrage campaign and made this cause her lifetime’s work, securing equal voting rights 62 years later.

Today we continue her legacy of fighting sexism and gender inequality through hard-hitting campaigns and impactful research.

We believe in a society where no one is prevented from reaching their full potential because of their gender.

If you believe in it too, join us.
