Childline by ISPCC, is the only 24/7 listening service for children in Ireland. It is non judgemental and focused on empowering, supporting and protecting young people and ensuring they are heard and believed.

I didn’t know a lot about the Childline service until I started volunteering with them over 6 months ago. I have listened to children of all ages share their stories ranging from dealing with the stress of exams, to challenging relationships with parents or friends, to situations of serious neglect and abuse.

It can be heart-breaking to hear what these children are going through but their resilience and ability to articulate their thoughts and feelings is inspiring and continues to amaze me. What is very apparent is how much they appreciate being listened to without judgement and how beneficial it is for these children to talk and ease the load of dealing with their worries and fears alone.

Children need to be heard and believed. They need to know they matter. At Childline, we are here to listen in confidence anytime of the day or night – no problem is too big or too small.

The listening service is fully staffed by volunteers and any donations received will help to ensure that this very valuable service can continue to run 24/7.
