We provide year round sports training to people with an intellectual disability

Story

The 7th annual eir Challenge will raise money for the Special Olympics Ireland Young Athletes Programme. The benefits of physical activity are well known and the benefits of the Young Athlete Programme go far beyond play and sport. This year we will be hosting a virtual challenge, encouraging employees to train with their family and friends locally.

- Helps children learn how to communicate and interact with each other

- Promotes the development of learning and self-help skills

- Introduces children and their parent's to the Special Olympics and a support network

- Prepares children for joining a Special Olympics Club in the future

- Fosters passion for sport and physical activity

About the charity

Special Olympics is a sport organisation for people with an intellectual disability, currently supporting nearly 8,000 athletes across Ireland, who are training for much more than the physical benefits that come from sport, but the emotional and social development that come from being part of S.O.I.
