For those who aren't aware, Elizabeth was born 7 week prematurely due to me suffering with preeclampsia and her not growing. She spent the first 5 weeks of her life on the Neonatal Unit at Barnsley District General Hospital being cared for by the amazing staff on this unit. This was the scariest time of our lives and the staff not only looked after her, but they looked after us too and kept me sane on the long days spent looking at my baby wishing I could take her home. Some of these nurses have become friends they were so good to us and I want to give something back. Elizabeth has now been discharged from the Neonatal Consultants. Words cannot describe how happy we are about this and that our baby girl has come through this difficult time relatively unscathed. We are raising money for the Tiny Hearts Appeal to assist in raising money towards a brand new unit which is so desperately needed.

The current unit is outdated and is on the floor above the delivery suite, meaning poorly babies have to go in the lift to the unit. If this lift broke down, it could mean the difference between life and death for some children. The hope is to create a new unit on the same floor as the delivery suite, which is more suited to the needs of babies today. Please help us in raising money for this very worthwhile cause.
