Voluntary Service Overseas

We send volunteers overseas to fight poverty

Charity Registration No. 313757

Hello! Thank you so much for visiting my Just Giving page!

I am very lucky to be going on a 3 month VSO ICS volunteering placement  in Ghana. To raise awareness for this cause and to help fund future projects I have been set a fundraising goal of £1,500 before I leave on the 20th February.

I am very excited to be working with VSO which does amazing work to help lift communities out of poverty through the implementation of long term sustainable projects.

I will be working in the Tepa Livelihood Project in the Ahafo Ano North district where the main source of emplyment is agriculture. VSO has been working with cocoa communities to form partnerships between farmers, NGOs and government to secure the social, economic and environmental sustainability of the 1 million cocoa farmers in Ghana. VSO seeks to increase cocoa production and provide alternative markets through improving business and marketing skills to improve community income and help to drive long term change.

As a VSO ICS volunteer I will be working with a local NGO called SODIA to increase community interest through formation of youth agriculture groups, enlisting training, organising sensitisation for girls clubs and promoting environmental sustainability.

Examples of what I might be doing include:

  • Promotion of female equality and emplyment
  • Supporting creation of cooperative to improve community infastructure
  • Delivering training on business planning, marketing, record keeping, financial management, IT and employability skills
  • Supporting marketing strategy development
  • Delivering education programs to school children

I am very grateful for any donation that you feel you can give. Any contribution will help projects that are making real differences to the lives of people in developing countries.

Thank you very much for your support!
