Story
At 8 months of age Emelia was diagnosed with Congenital Glaucoma. As you can imagine, all of us were so heartbroken to learn that Emelia would suffer from this condition for the rest of her life, with the potential of losing her sight. Moorfields were quick and efficient to act, and have not only given the vision saving treatment Emelia so badly needed, but also they have made every one of her 20+ visits, comfortable and personal. Moorfields have maintained Emelia’s sight for her to experience everything a child should, and they have spent the time to get to know her on a personal level, with doctors and play workers anticipating her arrival, and making her feel safe, for one of the most daunting experiences a little girl could ever go through.
Emelia has undergone 8 operations since she was 1, and at almost 4, she has many checkups and operation at Moorfields to come, in the foreseeable future.
They enabled Emelia to keep her sight, and for that we are so unbelievably grateful! We know we cannot do enough to repay their kindness, however, this is our way of saying thank you, and being able to give a little back. We are doing something that is merely a fraction of how scared Emelia must feel, before Moorfields go the extra mile in reassuring her and making her feel at home.
