2010 Great Scottish Run Half Marathon · 5 September 2010 ·
Thanks for visit my JustGiving page. I am running my first ever Half Marathon on Sunday 5th September and I'm pretty nervous about it. I am raising money for the Stroke Association (http://www.stroke.org.uk/) so I hope you'll give what you can to help this great cause. You may know that my Grandma, Ella Nimmo, suffered several large strokes in October 2008. Her health, mind, and mobility were hugely affected, and her life as she knew it seemed to be over. Despite a pretty miraculous recovery, my Grandma is all but gone. She is still happy enough and enjoys simple pleasures, but her personality has changed, she has almost no memory and her mind is no longer much use. Stroke really can ruin lives, but the earlier a stroke is spotted and treated, the lesser the impact. Would you know what to do if you saw someone have a stroke? It's important to support medical research and to support those who care for stroke survivors. There's also a lot to be said for education, because if you knew about stroke, perhaps you could help to prevent it. Perhaps you could spot it if it happened to someone you know. And if you could spot it, you might then know what to do. By knowing what to do, you could save a life. You could save the quality of someone's life. And that's a very big deal.
The Stroke Association do all of these things and much more. I hope you will be lucky enough to never need their support directly. But for all those who do need them, please help me to help them continue their amazing work. So please dig deep and donate now. Whatever you can give will be massively appreciated. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks very much. Big love.
